Child Abuse Prevention Month

Today marks the first day of April, which is the beginning of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. As you know, Brush Country CASA is a non-profit organization who recruits, trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for children who are in the foster care system due to abuse and neglect. For us at CASA, Child Abuse Prevention Month is a big deal. It allows us the opportunity to educate the community about abuse and neglect and shed light on the fact that this epidemic is not a "big city" problem but rather an "everywhere" problem. In 2018, there were 322 children in the custody of the Department of Family and Protective Services and 3 child deaths due to abuse and neglect within our service area. During April, CASA hopes to host events that allow us to take a moment to remember those children who are impacted by abuse and neglect, and that give parents an outlet to embrace their children in a fun and safe environment.

CASA would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming events to show your support for our efforts to put a stop to child abuse and neglect. For more information on how you can get involved with CASA or for event questions please do not hesitate to contact us at the CASA office, 361.595.7233.
